On my return to London from my visit to Europe I am writing to thank you for the long talk we had during my visit to Madrid.

I found it invaluable to have this discussion with you about the negotiations between Spain and the European Community. I greatly appreciated your readiness to talk so frankly about these matters. I can assure you that I shall do everything in my power to ensure the success of the negotiations.
